Flatback Pearls

Flatback Pearls do not have adhesive on the back. You can easily adhere pearls, rhinestones, rimstones, buttons, sequins, or even those tiny die cut pieces to your project with the Gel Picker shown below.

Instructions for adhering flatback pearls, rhinestones, and rimstones:
Some of the flatback rhinestones have a "hot fix glue" on the back. This hot fix glue allows the rhinestone to be adhered to fabric, or other materials, with an iron. If you are adhering to cardstock, it is faster and easier to use a bit of white glue.

This is how I teach it in my card classes: I use Aleene's Tacky White Glue... put a small amount about the size of a dime on a styrofoam plate (or piece of a plate,) and then using a toothpick, get a dab (small dab!) of the glue and dot it where you want the rhinestones. pearls, or rimstones to go. I dab about 3 or 4 dots at a time.

Then using the "Gel Picker," touch the top of the pearl/rhinestone, and place it on top of the glue dot. Use only a very small dot of glue. If it oozes out the side, take another toothpick and clean up the glue, or it should dry clear. Sometimes if I get too much of a dot of glue on my project, I take my finger and touch the top of the glue, thus removing some before I place the pearl/rhinestone on top. It spreads out a bit, but should dry clear.

The Gel Picker is, by far, the easiest way to apply the rhinestones, rimstones, pearls, buttons, confetti, or even small die cut pieces.

My students are ladies between 58 and 75. They all used this method on their first try with no problems at all. They grumbled a bit when they saw the 2mm, but everyone did a fantastic job!
